Sold Item # S031117-02

Description: Sterling grid 75 fountain pen

Price: $195

This is a US-made sterling silver 75 fountain pen in the classic grid pattern that started it all.   The pen has dished tassies, uses a chrome collar section with ruled lines but without the zero reference mark, and is fitted with a slim aerometric converter which indicate this is a later production model.  I would guess it was made in the 1970s.

The exterior box has a slight imperfection as you can see.

There are some unusual things about this pen which I show in the pictures below.  First, though this pen has a US 14K nib and marked M, the cut of the nib is actually a stub.  While the black plastic feed looks like it acquired some scratches from this nib customization, careful examination of the section shows it has never seen ink.  Furthermore, the grid pattern is so crisp that the corners of the squares are still sharp to catch the cotton fibers of the glove used to handle the pen for taking these photographs.

The second thing unusual is that this US-made pen has a date code!

This is something that is unusual for US-made 75 pens.  That the code is NL tells us it was produced in the third quarter of 1979.

This is a new old stock pen with its box and includes the aerometric converter and nib adjustment tool.  It is a worthy addition for the discriminating Parker 75 collector, due in large part to its anomalies.
